Position Overview:

Multimatic New Haven produces high-strength vehicle structures and assemblies using proprietary manufacturing processes.

Multimatic New Haven has an opening for Production Group Leader for 3rd shift.  They will be responsible for the overall safety, quality and efficient operation of the processes within their area of responsibility; have a working knowledge of all equipment within their assigned area, with the ability to train others on that equipment; act as a leader in their area to help develop operators' job knowledge; and use continuous improvement to reach established objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Coach, mentor and inspire associates to be the best version of themselves.
  • Ensure associates are made to feel VALUED!
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times
  • Understand and perform the supervisor’s responsibilities in their absence
  • Follow all established company policies and procedures
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment in conjunction with other support personnel
  • Perform changeovers and set up with other support personnel
  • Assure all required PPEs are available and worn by all associates, and coordinate safety improvement projects as necessary
  • Determine tools needed for production associates to be successful and ensure they are available
  • Assure production boards in their assigned area are reviewed and initialed on an hourly basis
  • Responsible for daily 6-S audits in their assigned areas and for follow-up to resolve issues found during the audit
  • Utilize kanban and customer forecasts to perform daily production scheduling and assure schedule attainment
  • Lead and direct production associates in their assigned areas on a daily basis
  • Manage hold areas and assure timely disposition of product
  • Lead meetings with production associates to review objectives and how to make improvements in these areas
  • Review OEE information on a daily basis and assure data accuracy
  • Assure all new quality or process changes are communicated to production, and assure proper training is provided if needed
  • Assure all production associates are properly trained on the equipment they operate and there is documentation to validate the completion of training 
  • Provide thorough and clear communication to your supervisor, following shift and technical services regarding any problems concerning production
  • Complete shift notes on a daily basis for the work centers assigned to them 
  • Work overtime as needed (daily & weekends)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude (mechanical, hydraulics, electrical and pneumatics) - **PREFERRED 
  • 1-2 years' prior leadership role in a manufacturing environment and/or technical experience  
  • 1-3 years' automotive manufacturing experience 
  • Must be able to perform and understand all job functions of a production operator
  • Ability to effectively train others
  • Must have demonstrated "soft skills"
