Position Overview:

Multimatic Indiana - Butler is looking for a Weld Technician (3rd shift: 10pm-6:00am) who will be responsible for performing assignments requiring judgment and problem-solving skills relating to the MIG welding process. The Weld Technician will assist with setup and changeovers as they relate to MIG welding.

Duties:

  • Adopt a specific group of cells and focus on all aspects of welding robustness for the assigned area
  • Teach robots points for optimum MIG-weld robustness
  • Adjust weld fixtures to control end product dimensions and as well as MIG-weld gap/robustness
  • Develop preventative maintenance procedures related to weld fixtures and weld guns
  • Improve process robustness, up-time and cycle time by researching and improving weld consumables
  • Maintain shim adjustment logs for assigned area
  • Document and improve welding parameters
  • Provide input in evaluation of equipment and processes
  • Understand incoming part quality and its effect on MIG-weld/dimensional robustness
  • Perform other functions as required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or equivalent experience
