First Line IT Technician

Multimatic Technical Centre Europe (MTCE) provides engineering and product development services to F1, Formula E, IMSA/WEC, DTM and many more race teams and Automotive OEMs around the world. It is Multimatic' s Centre of Excellence for the ongoing design, development and implementation of DSSV® Damping Technology, and has established a strong continuing relationship with numerous championship winning Motorsports teams.

MTCE is also a leading contract engineering and vehicle development resource to major automotive OEMs, a growing number of niche vehicle manufacturers, engineering dampers, control arms, and entire vehicle suspension systems.

We are looking to hire a First Line IT Technician to join our busy and exciting IT department here at MTCE. Your role will be to assist with IT support to the MTCE division in line with the Multimatic corporate IT strategy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support:
    • Take ownership and troubleshoot desktop and server problems, and diagnose and solve hardware/software incidents or problems.
    • Supporting users on both software and hardware applications.
  • Incident and Problem Management:
    • Incident and problem management.
    • Prioritise and manage several open cases and mini-projects at one time.
  • Service and Support:
    • Provide exceptional service support to the business.
    • Provide on-site support at Thetford and Cambridge and sometimes in Europe.
    • Respond to Support calls in a timely fashion.
  • System Administration:
    • Oversee Avaya IP Office telephone system.
    • Oversee the whole printing process including organising onsite 3rd party engineer, purchasing of new printers, paper jams and toner replacement.
    • Oversee server backups and restore process using Veeam Backup & Replication Console plus swapping tapes and accounted for tapes when on and offsite.
    • Add and maintain users via Active Directory and mailboxes via Exchange Admin Center.
    • Set up and amend DHCP, including reservations.
    • Set up and amend Group policies.
    • Purchase, install and liaise with our Corporate Networking team for set up of Cisco network switches.
    • Create images of new computer models and deploy them using WDS
    • Be able to add patch cables to Cisco switches when required.
    • Create and expand VMWare hosts as required.
    • Create and expand Storage LUNs via HP Storage Management Utility.
    • Create and administer SharePoint pages.
    • Manage the new user onboarding and offboard process from an IT perspective.
    • Update and maintain the clock card system.
    • Update and maintain the door access system.
  • Security and Maintenance:
    • Ensure network-based data is kept secure and access is restricted according to Multimatic corporate standards.
    • Help maintain and manage the hardware replacement process including desktop, laptop and Windows Server 2022 environments.
  • Policy and Process Improvement:
    • Contribute to policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Ability to improve a process where applicable.
    • Interest in continuous learning in technical support and products.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Maintain working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed safely.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Help improve the team by actively participating in knowledge transfer and sharing expertise as needed to support and enhance team performance.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge and proven experience in:
    • An IT support role level one with some level two.
    • Microsoft Server 2022
    • Windows 10 and 11 Pro
    • Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory, Exchange Admin Centre, VMWare vSphere and network security practices.
    • Networking protocols and to be able to troubleshoot IP issues.
  • Familiarity with Avaya telephone systems and print management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence.
