EE CAD Engineer

Multimatic is a global automotive company providing hardware and engineering services to OEMs around the world.  Its newly formed Cambridge (UK) based electronics division, Multimatic Electronic Systems (MES), will meet the growing needs of our automotive customers in electronics and whole vehicle integration programs.  Combining our new products with Multimatic’s existing expertise in suspension systems, vehicle dynamics, mechanisms and mechatronics will enable us to go to market with complete active suspension, active aero, powered door and full vehicle EE architecture offerings to our customers in the future.

We are seeking an EE CAD Engineer to join our team and support development of a growing team for Niche Vehicle Integration for clients in the automotive industry. The successful candidate will be joining Multimatic Electronic Systems at a very exciting time as the division embarks on multiple projects to deliver full vehicle electrical architectures; these projects will require EDS Design and Engineering support within the engineering department, supporting the body engineering and integration engineers to deliver electrical infrastructure solutions. Key strengths required for the role include the ability to operate independently, a problem-solving mindset, the ability to communicate efficiently and comfort with taking on responsibilities. Key areas of Responsibilities:

  • Own and design the physical Electrical Distribution System for full vehicles with the input and support of the integration engineering team.
  • Design for manufacture new module housings for Multimatic electrical products.
  • Manage packaging, routing and retention for wiring harness components.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to find the best solution to packaging challenges, compromising where necessary, championing where appropriate.
  • Integrate with the Body Engineering Teams to champion EE requirements within a whole vehicle system.
  • Support component and vehicle sign-off for production.
  • Supplier management and sourcing for components and integration support.
  • Interacting with the customer to capture requirements and manage issues.
  • Assist in the development of project plans including timing and deliverables.
  • Own part numbering and champion version control, requirement definitions and change tracking.
  • Be part of the development of Multimatic engineering tools and development systems for electronic components and systems.
  • Work closely with other disciplines, such as outside suppliers and integration and mechanical engineers, to achieve the project requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level with at least 2 years’ experience in an engineering discipline
  • Extensive CAD experience at vehicle and component levels
  • Experience with EDS Design and Manufacture
  • Familiarity with Vehicle electrical module integration and EE Architectures a benefit
