Scope of Position:
The Operations Manager strives to improve the level of “operational excellence” on a daily basis. The role reports to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing aspects operational activities for the manufacturing facility. Working closely with GM and the functional department managers the incumbent will provide leadership to direct manufacturing related functional areas of the business to sustain outstanding operational and financial performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Leadership
Conduct daily production review meetings with all departments.
Conduct regular performance appraisals of all personnel reporting directly to Operation Manger.
Review day to day production concerns and shipping demands
Analysis and management of various aspects the area of Operations and Manufacturing.
Manufacturing & Operations
Direct and co-ordinate the manufacturing operations of the company.
Continue to drive the implementation and support of World Class Manufacturing strategies.
Accountable to drive process improvement on the manufacturing floor in order to achieve and exceed expectations.
Applies world class manufacturing, KAIZEN and lean manufacturing principles.
Lead the production area with a focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement/optimization, safe operations, and teamwork.
Review DMN’s and ensure corrective actions are received back in a timely fashion.
Initiate and review all corrective actions on any internal or external concerns.
Review and sign-off all production and tooling related purchase requisitions.
Review and sign off new tooling or equipment upon approval
Advise general manager of any problems, concerns or opportunities that effect the performance of the company.
Business Strategy
Review and address any commercial issues with the customer. Compile and supply data to Sales Office.
Responsible to implement a manufacturing strategy that includes refining product and process initiatives.
Development and Management of plant KPI's against Business Plan targets.
Review and determine resources as changes occur to business plan. (i.e., new programs)
Develop and execute an action plan to meet corporate policy deployment objectives and targets.
Meet or exceed all objectives/requirements of the business plan.
Compliance
Promote a safe work environment in all activities in the area of Production; includes compliance to regulatory requirements & company policies and communicating and rectifying safety concerns.
Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949).
Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Review all accident investigation reports and ensure timely corrective action.

Basic Requirements:
College or university degree in mechanical engineering or tool & die design.
10 years’ experience in either engineering or tooling.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in program management
Minimum 5 years automotive manufacturing experience
Knowledgeable in various manufacturing and processing techniques (i.e. resistance spot welding, mig welding, stamping, robotics.)
Excellent interactive and leadership skills.
Excellent problem solving techniques
Computer skills (i.e. spread sheets, data bases, word processing)
Good understanding of quote process, business plan, and financial statements.
Knowledgeable of government legislation regarding health and safety (OHSA, Labour Relations, Employment Standards, Human Rights.
Knowledgeable in APQP disciplines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct management of all production related departments.
Co-ordinate, support and provide direction to production services.(i.e. tool room, maintenance, process engineering, fabrication, MRP and shipping/receiving
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelors’ degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
