Test Engineer/Technologist (Evening/Weekend Shift)

Position Overview:
Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group. MTC provides advanced design, simulation, and testing services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.
MTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, and product testing and validation). Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full-vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator.
The Test Department at MTC provides development support test services to both Multimatic and outside customers. The test services include mechatronics system development testing, component strength and fatigue testing, test fixture/system design and manufacturing, multi-post testing, vehicle road load data acquisition, and damper validation testing. The growth in the test department has resulted in the need for an additional Test Engineer / Technologist.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Design fixtures for testing of automotive components and vehicle structures
Set up and perform materials, component, and system tests
Perform data reduction and analysis of test data
Provide assistance with customer testing needs
Report results in both formal written reports and as presentations
NOTE: that this posting is for the evening or weekend shift. Each shift is composed of four 10-hour days.
Evening shift is Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday from 3:00PM to 1:30AM
Weekend shift is Friday-Monday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Both shifts are eligible for a shift premium on top of base salary.
Education and Experience:
College or university degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, with experience performing automotive-related testing tasks
Excellent knowledge of data acquisition techniques, including associated transducers and instrumentation
Experience in component testing and systems validation (mechanical and electrical)
Good knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and analysis tools (Modal, Noise, Frequency, and Time History Analysis)
Ability to design, manage, and configure test control systems and machines (MTS, LabView, etc.)
Good knowledge of control systems for pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric test systems
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Must be able to work independently
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization, customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, engineers, etc.
