The Position
We are looking for individuals to fill the role of Tool and Die Maker. The successful candidates will be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining and repairing the tools and dies in an automotive parts manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on production tooling
Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement suggestions on the production line
Complete documentation such as work orders/time sheets/log board entries/line book revisions
Order parts and follows the parts-received procedure
Trouble shoot and repair dies in press
Review and complete tool service reports
Review tooling at the end of a production run and determine die status
Work in compliance and conform to all policies and standards
Promote health and safety and ensure good housekeeping at all times
Adopt and support KAIZEN activities
Ensure all work is in compliance with certifications and standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Certified Tool & Die Maker (completion of apprenticeship and achieved Certificate)
Completion of college diploma or certificate is preferred
Experience working on progressive and transfer dies
Previous experience working with 400T to 1,600T presses is an asset
Experience with building new tooling, blueprint reading, tool welding, and machining is an asset
Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment
Ability to read, write and speak English
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing requirements
Comfortable working in a high-paced environment and with standing for extended periods
Ability to handle heavy loads
