Multimatic Michigan is responsible for manufacturing fully engineered, high quality components and assemblies for high-volume vehicle manufacturers. Multimatic Michigan uses advanced proprietary manufacturing processes.
Multimatic Michigan is currently looking for a Quality Engineer that will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for providing technical, supervision and consultation services to the design, engineering, manufacturing and quality departments. The successful candidate will need to ensure that products can be manufactured utilizing current and new techniques developed by the company, and ensure first time capabilities and design intent are met. The requirement is an important part of the company’s commitment to supply superior part quality and reliability
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Problem solve (work with operations on shift to determine root cause of material on hold and make the appropriate changes to limit the amount of material placed on hold)
Responsible for activities related to the identification, tracking and resolving of quality problems
Participating in advance product feasibility assessment with affected company quality areas to assure maximum contribution of research, development, design, engineering, and testing to achieve first time through capabilities with superior quality
Participate with Program Teams in design review and in selection of measurement points for SPC
Evaluating and developing, as required, quality requirements and maintaining world class technological advancements compatible with company needs
Review part drawings & specifications of programs assigned.
Assist in implementing new Engineering Changes for programs assigned.
Advise management of all potential problems or concerns and offer any opportunities for improvement.
Assist with developing optimum processing parameters for new and ongoing programs as assigned.
Work with customers, production, and the Plant Manager to resolve customer issues.
Works in compliance with IATF16949 standards.
Maintains due diligence in regard to environmental matters, minimize any potentially harmful accidents and work in compliance with ISO 14001.
Will work in compliance with all legislative requirements of MIOSHA
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
Minimum 3+ years experience in a manufacturing Quality environment within the automotive industry
Solid understanding of Welding processes and assembly equipment
Excellent problem solving techniques
Experience launching new programs for large OEM’s
Working knowledge of SPC, GD&T, and Blue print reading
CMM experience would be an asset
Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization, customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, engineers,
Computer skills in the area of spread sheets, databases, word processing
Welding inspection knowledge – destruct inspection, non-destruct inspection, macro etch (cut & etch), preparation and inspection would be an asset
Basic Quality Systems knowledge (Control of non-conforming products, in process controls & inspection, product & process audit, etc.)
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be able to pass criminal background check, and drug test
