Composites Technician – Trim, Bond and Assembly

As part of a new capital investment project, Multimatic has established a new dedicated facility to manufacture carbon fibre reinforced components for the premium automotive industry. This brand new facility incorporates an extensive list of new equipment and facilities to enhance Multimatic’s leadership in this field.

Together with being part of a start-up venture, this is an exciting opportunity for anyone who desires hands-on experience with components destined for high performance vehicles, advanced composites and has a passionate interest in automobiles.

Due to this new facility, Multimatic is looking for Composite Technicians – Trim, Bond and Assembly who will be responsible for trimming, routing, drilling, abrading, sanding and assembling composite components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use of hand tools to trim, fit and drill composite components.
    • Abrade bond surfaces and apply adhesives for bonded assemblies.
    • Install hardware to components and assemblies using various methods.
    • Perform structural and visual composite repairs.
    • Pattern, shuttering and preparation.
    • Structural bonding of metallic and composite materials.
    • Achieve production schedule.
    • Comprehend the health and safety protocols of composite materials.
    • Provide training, guidance and assistance to co-workers as required.
    • Participate in Multimatic’s continuous improvement activities

Basic Requirements:

  • Interpret drawings, sketches, and manufacturers’ instructions.
    • Ability to create templates from instructions provided.
    • Understanding of structural adhesives.
    • Use of measuring equipment.
    • Preventative maintenance on tools used within the department.
    • Ensure proper use of PPE.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.
    • Comprehend the health and safety protocols of composite materials.
    • Provide training, guidance and assistance to co-workers as required.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Competence with Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with composite assembly techniques (adhesives and mechanical).
    • Experience with composite trimming techniques.
    • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
  •   Previous composite trimming and bonding experience.
  •  Some training will be provided.
