Scope of Position:
We are looking for a talented Paint Process Engineer to join our growing Paint Operations team on some of the worlds most advanced and exciting automotive projects.
The Paint process Engineer is responsible for supporting the team in all aspects of Paint process including definition and creation, design for manufacture, tooling and fixture procurement and implementation, Paint support and process change coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Paint teams across all projects to create and maintain Paint process documentation, maintaining a continuous improvement approach
Ensure all Paint processes can support business requirements for ramp up and volume production
Create and maintain Work Element Sheets (WES) to establish robust processes throughout all Paint activities.
Develop target takt times, measure actual timings achieved during prototype builds and create a glide-path to volume production
Ensure quality checkpoints are fully imbedded within the Paint process, including provision for sign-offs and ‘lifetime quality’ record retention
Assist with the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures and test rigs where appropriate
Liaise with the Paint and Programme Management to ensure processes are updated in and reviewed on a regular basis.
Help to establish training plans to help with on-boarding new starters
Contribute to future facility planning to ensure Paint process engineering needs are captured
Manage the data recording and archiving of Paint data for vehicles including hand written, digital and photographic records where appropriate
Support regular customer project reviews
React to incoming engineering change requests, implementing process changes where needed
Work closely with the Quality and Engineering teams to ensure issues are captured and driven towards resolution
Attend training courses as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree-level qualification in Automotive Engineering or equivalent relevant experience, ideally working in the automotive Paint application sector.
Prior experience in Paint process improvement design and implementation of new products
Experience in using digital tools to support project management, including MS Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Personal Attributes:
Highly motivated self-starter with an appetite for problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
