Senior Server Administrator

Position Overview:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

Multimatic's IT group is located in Markham, Ontario, and we are currently seeking a Senior Server Administrator, who will be reporting to the Global Technical Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd / 3rd level VMware / Microsoft Server backend infrastructure support to globally located technical teams
  • Develop, design, and implement VMware server infrastructures at a global level
  • Evaluate and recommend new technical products / services
  • Assess enterprise server security risks and contingency planning
  • Monitor server hardware inventory ensuring life cycle refreshes
  • Work with yearly IT budgets
  • Monitor global server infrastructures to ensure availability and perform necessary maintenance to maintain 24/7 availability
  • Understands IT industry trends, business trends, IT best practices, standards, and resources to ensure continuous optimization of IT service delivery
  • Lead and or support outage investigations and response activities
  • Leads and participates in project information gathering, requirements and analysis
  • Help facilitate POC activates from start to final rollout
  • Rotational "on call" after hours and emergency support
  • Involvement and / or manage technical projects as assigned by the Global Technical Services Manager


  • 5-10 years' experience:
    • Within an IT-related environment
    • Within a VMware virtual server environment
    • With Windows W7 / W10
    • With Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2012 / 2016
    • With Exchange 2003 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016
    • With Microsoft Outlook 2003 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016
    • With Microsoft Office 2013 / 2016
    • With Active Directory / WSUS / Patch Management
  • Working knowledge of WAN / LAN / Wi-Fi Technology
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies and protocols
  • PC Hardware skills
  • Backup technology - on premises and offsite
  • Working knowledge of Windows scripting / batch language / logging auditing
  • Cisco video conference equipment
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work alone or within a team
  • MCSE or equivalent education / experience
  • Strong customer support experience
  • Global travel (Canada, US, Europe, Mexico, China, Australia) if and when required
  • Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Microsoft SQL / MySQL Server is a plus
