Cold Heading Operator

The Position
We are looking to fill the role of Cold Heading Operator who will produce quality high-precision cold-headed blanks, while maintaining a superior degree of productivity. The candidate must have a good work ethic, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities
- Operate and troubleshoot the single and multi- blow cold heading machines.
- Produce quality parts; in finish and configuration, with zero defects on a regular basis.
- Complete preventative maintenance prior to and after tooling changes.
- Ensure parts are made to print and tooling is received to print.
- Inspect tooling and setup.
- Perform minor maintenance on machinery.
- Perform adjustments on machinery to assure a quality part is being made.
- Arrange and schedule daily job on each equipment
- Set-up and operate single die two blow and two die three blow cold headers.
- Teach, instruct, and educate helpers or trainees.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts.
Requirements
- 5+ years cold heading experience
- Able to set up cold heading machines independently.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and detailed oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Familiar with all tooling necessary in making set-up and ability to adjust.
- Be able to troubleshoot, provide guidance and direction to other employees.
- Competent with small hand tools, and all measuring instruments pertinent to cold heading shop; including micrometer, scale, calipers.
- Be able to read blueprints proficiently.
- Proficient in SPC and maintaining charts.
- New product quoting experience an asset.
- Experience on Nakashimada NP-81s an asset.
- Ability to complete routine production and quality reports.
- Single die two blow header and 2 die three blow headers used for forming automotive rivets and fasteners.
- Knowledge of Thread rolling also an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required to stand for periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms.
