Position Overview

The continued growth of the Testing Department has resulted in the need for additional Test Engineer / Technologist.

The Test Department is a hands-on role that works closely with the other Engineering Departments at MTC to provide testing service and expertise to support the development of new products for all Multimatic’s production groups. The test services range from component level to full vehicle testing, and include strength and fatigue testing, mechatronics system testing, damper testing, noise and vibration testing, multi-post vehicle testing, and on-road vehicle level data collection. In addition, the Testing Department is responsible for test fixture/system design and manufacturing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional, performance, and reliability tests of automotive components and systems.
  • Develop, manage, and execute test plans and procedures required for development and validation.
  • Setup, configure, and calibrate equipment and instrumentation required for tasks at hand.
  • Analyze test results, identify issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical problems.
  • Create and maintain documentation of test procedures, observations, and results. 
  • Report results in both formal written reports and presentations.
  • NOTE: That this posting is for the day, evening, and weekend shift.
    • Day shift is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
    • Evening shift is Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM
    • Weekend shift is Friday-Monday from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
    • All shifts are salary positions based on a 40-hour work week; start and end times are typical and not fixed.
    • Evening and Weekend Shifts are eligible for a shift premium on top of base salary.

Education and Experience: 

  • Applicants must have a college or university degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, mechatronics, or automotive engineering)
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, components, and testing methodologies. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, expected to interact with other engineers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment, able to adapt to solve problems and meet deadlines as challenges arise.
  • Organizational skills and ability to independently manage workload.

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of data acquisition techniques, including associated transducers and instrumentation
  • Experience in component testing and systems validation (mechanical and electrical)
  • Good knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation, including a solid understanding of signal processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with measurement system analysis, Gauge R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), and statistical process control
  • Ability to design, manage, and configure test control systems and machines (MTS, LabView, dSpace, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of control systems for pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric test systems
