Forklift-Operator (Material Handler)

The Position
We are looking for a Forklift Operator (Material Handler) for our Press Department on the day shift. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for moving products and materials in our facility. Through safe and effective operation of a lift truck, the candidate will help ensure we are able meet production requirements in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document daily inspections of lift trucks
- Ensure lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met
- Safely operate a lift truck to:
- Restock presses and arrange the storage area for plated stampings
- Remove stamped goods from presses and deliver to the staging area
- Organize and returning bins
- Complete other tasks as required
- Follow all safety guidelines, procedures, and standards
- Maintain a clean and tidy/organized work area
- Adopt Kaizen principles and concepts and participate in GEAR activities
- Maintain contact with supervisor(s) and work to resolve issues as they arise
- Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers
- Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Valid forklift certification (propane) and proven experience operating a counter-balance lift truck
- Two years of experience is preferred
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Experience with bar code scanning and printing labels
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Physical requirements include:
- Sitting and driving for longs periods of time
- Frequently climbing up and down stairs
- Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
