Engineering Co-op Student

Position Overview:

Multimatic Ride Dynamics  (MRD) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. Multimatic Ride Dynamics is looking for a Engineering Co-op Student who will responsible for executing the planned activities within the Process Engineering department to ensure timely and accurate completion of necessary tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the process engineers prepare and maintain manufacturing bills of materials for all products.
  • Assist process engineers track the proper timing of ECN's.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the part-numbering system. Assign part numbers to raw materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies as required.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of plant and equipment layouts, manufacturing flow charts, process plans, production standards, and engineering reports.
  • Maintain current, pending, and obsolete engineering files (i.e. documents, drawings, specifications, systems, vendor files).
  • Generate reports, graphs, and correspondence as assigned.
  • Copy and distribute forms and/or reports as assigned.
  • Update and maintain purchase requisitions.
  • Take photo with digital camera and snap into company network as request.
  • Develop and maintain all operator instructions. Present drafts for review and approval. Co-ordinate the exchange of operator instructions for engineering changes.
  • Advise Management of any potential problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow all departmental and general procedures where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or Department Manager.
  • Abide by all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies, and procedures including the legislative requirements of the OHSA.
  • Work in compliance and conform to the Environment and ISO and 14001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen principles; participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university mechanical engineering program.
  • Knowledge of production equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Must possess drafting and drawing skills (i.e. C.A.D).
  • Good Technical Report writing abilities.
  • Experience with PLC would be an asset
  • Excellent problem solving techniques and methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Length of co-op: September 2024- August 2025
