OVERVIEW
:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

Multimatic's IT group is currently seeking a Project Lead, IT Infrastructure, who will be reporting to the Director, IT Infrastructure and Operations.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Lead, IT Infrastructure is part of the Infrastructure and Operations team within Multimatic IT and will be responsible for managing and successful delivery of projects by providing project management leadership across a distributed Infrastructure team ensuring IT and Project Management best practices are employed. 

This lead role requires a technical infrastructure background with good leadership and communication skills as well as experience managing complex enterprise-level initiatives at scale.  This role is located at the Multimatic IT offices in Markham, Ontario


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the management of the IT Infrastructure project portfolio by working with the appropriate IT and business stakeholders to define, prioritize and manage the pipeline of future Infrastructure-related initiatives while helping to accelerate the completion of active IT Infrastructure projects.
  • Ensures project success by driving day-to-day operations through the application of sound project management principles and methodologies and helps enforce good project governance
  • Prepares project status reports to convey project scope, goals, milestones, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues to IT Leadership.
  • Leads project cost estimation efforts and ongoing budget tracking responsibilities for key Infrastructure initiatives.
  • Provides work direction and leadership to assigned projects, including scheduling, assignment of work and review of project efforts.
  • Conducts Risk Management reviews while maintaining documentation for identified risks and mitigation strategies. Proactively gathers and updates risk status and documentation as needed.
  • Leads project team meetings, proactively documents meeting minutes, tracks issues, decisions and action items, and follows-up between meetings to drive issues to closure.
  • Partners with the Director PMO, IT Infrastructure Leadership and IT Security teams to understand technology/business needs and help develop and deploy project management policies, procedures and methodologies.
  • Delivers presentations to steering committees or project sponsors as required.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • An overall understanding of large IT infrastructure and operating environments, including but not limited to: Networks, Data Centers, Storage, and Operational Monitoring Tools and Technologies.
  • Direct experience managing Office 365 and SharePoint implementation/migration projects
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft collaboration stack including Office 365, Teams, SharePoint Online.
  • SAP knowledge a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of current Microsoft infrastructure technologies (e.g., Active Directory)
  • Proficient in different project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Kanban, Scrum, Waterfall) and able to manage large project teams focused on high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed timeline and budgetary targets.
  • Can translate functional/technical requirements into effort estimates at the necessary level of detail for planning and scheduling purposes.
  • Knowledgeable about the integration of risk management (security, backup/recovery, redundancy) into IT Infrastructure implementations.
  • Working knowledge of ITSM/ITIL guidelines and processes.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous
  • Ability to multi-task and work to tight timelines.
  • Proficient in various project planning and time tracking tools (e.g. MS Project, JIRA)
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration, communication and presentations skill.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years managing IT Infrastructure projects of medium to high complexity while building and managing cross-functional teams or projects, influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders, and effectively resolving problems.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred
  • Some hands-on experience with systems administration, virtualization platforms, network engineering concepts and/or cloud hosting platforms.
  • Experience in working within a Project Management Office, or equivalent structure
  • Experience working with ITIL, ITSM, DevOps, Agile, Continuous Integration, IT Portfolio Management, and/or other similar frameworks

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:     

Hybrid environment; some travel may be required to Multimatic office/production locations.
