Purchasing Supervisor

Multimatic Inmet manufactures fully engineered, high-quality components, assemblies and systems such as bumpers and chassis/body structural components for high-volume vehicle manufacturers.

Multimatic Inmet is currently looking for a Purchasing Supervisor who will report to the General Manager, and be responsible for purchasing of a variety of components and services for the production of components within the automotive sector. This role plays an important role in the company’s commitment to supplying superior quality parts, on time, to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to manage the evaluation, negotiation and sourcing for all purchased commodities, MRO, capital equipment and services for both Canada and US locations. Issue purchase orders, and /or contracts for them; subject to the authorization of the General Manager
  • Develops the divisional purchasing strategy in cooperation with the General Manager and Group Purchasing
  • Work with APQP to develop new suppliers that benefit new programs
  • Support and improve company profitability through the development of direct reports and supplier base
  • Manage the Supplier Performance database. Work with Quality and Material departments to improve the overall performance of suppliers
  • Purchases various commodities to support the company’s needs for production taking into account company policies, customer specifications, provincial, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Coordinate and manage supplier VA/VE initiatives, report on and implement VA/VE proposals in coordination with the APQP team
  • Manage spend data base and contribute to the development of annual departmental budgets
  • Accountability and ownership of Purchasing KPI’s including record keeping
  • Works in compliance with IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards
  • Will work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a relevant University Degree or College level Diploma required
  • Professional designation either in Materials or Purchasing (eg. PMAC, CPIM, CPP) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the automotive industry
  • Demonstrated ability to develop suppliers resulting in benefits to the organization
  • Good working knowledge of Purchasing principles and MRP systems
  • Business savvy with excellent problem solving techniques and methods to understand cost breakdowns and associated cost drivers of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and supply base
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to develop fact based recommendations to management
  • Computer skills in the area of Word processing, Spreadsheets, databases and Project Management
  • Experience with SAP would be considered an asset
