ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES          

The CMM Technician is responsible for operating and programming the CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine) for layout purposes.  The CMM. Technician provides layouts for sample submissions, performs fixture calibrations and also performing annual layouts as per the annual layout matrix.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Generates programs for the CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine).
  • Provides layouts results from both manual layouts as well as those performed on the CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine).
  • Responsible for gauge capability studies and other statistical analysis as required.
  • Attend drawing review and fixture design meetings.
  • Able to communicate with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensures that fixture calibration to the latest revision is performed and that records are maintained.
  • Ensures that fixture use procedures are current and complete.
  • Initiates the fixture repair procedure for those fixtures that require correction.
  • Responsible for performing sample submission layouts and inspection
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts
  • Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned in QA department (i.e.-special projects).
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Work in a safe manner and observes plant safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of OHSA and the regulations
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Multimatic requires to be used or worn
  • Report to manager or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may endanger yourself or another worker
  • Report to manager  or supervisor any contravention of OHSA or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which you know
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by Multimatic, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger yourself or any other worker
  • Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct

Basic Requirements and Competencies:

  • College Diploma or equivalent with minimum two years’ experience programming CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine)
  • Experience using standard measuring/inspection equipment.
  • Fluency in Geometric Dimensions and Tolerance.
  • Engineering Technologist/Technician or equivalent.
  • Trained in Core Tools.
  • Good English communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proficient in computer software, MS Office.
