Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will work under the direction of the Human Resources & Administration Manager to provide support for a wide range of HR generalist tasks and projects.  The HR Generalist will be detail oriented and have proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities at once.  This important role liaises with all MTC team members to provide recruitment, administrative, data and tactical support to achieve key business and HR objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support with full-cycle recruitment efforts across Multimatic Technical Centre and other Engineering divisions.
  • Oversee the onboarding and off-boarding processes by providing orientation and training to new hires, conducting exit interviews, and managing communication and documentation.
  • Ensure that all employee records are maintained in accordance/compliant with relevant legislation, policies and practices
  • Oversee the various College and University Co-op and new graduate hiring programs
  • Represent MTC at job fairs and recruitment events
  • Maintain accurate records in HRIS for new hires, changes, transfers, wage changes, and terminations
  • Develop positive employee relations by responding to employee questions and concerns and providing advice and assistance on HR policies, programs and procedures in a timely manner; resolve HR inquiries or escalate to the HR Manager as needed.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of training and employee development initiatives
  • Create/maintain/update HR tracking databases such as applicant, new hire, HR KPI’s, performance and training databases
  • Support department managers with completion of HR forms for all employee changes
  • Assist with the annual performance, talent and succession review, and development planning cycles
  • Assist with the administration of government funding grants for new hires and training initiatives
  • Participate in Health & Safety initiatives
  • Maintain organization charts
  • Oversee the coordination of the employee anniversary program
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on ways to improve employee engagement
  • Compile and participate in market data salary or other surveys
  • Assist with special HR projects as assigned
  • Handle other assigned functions as assigned to enhance our HR service offerings

 


Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience (salary commensurate with experience)
  • Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • CHRP Designation or working towards
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working in an Engineering or other Professional Services organization considered an asset
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Excellent judgement coupled with a high degree of integrity and trust
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple conflicting deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SharePoint, HRIS, ATS and LMS systems
