Human Resources Generalist

Multimatic Inmet manufactures fully engineered, high-quality components, assemblies and systems such as bumpers and chassis/body structural components for high-volume vehicle manufacturers.

Position Overview:

Multimatic Inmet is currently looking for a Human Resources Generalist. Reporting into the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for improving the competitiveness and profitability of the company by ensuring the hiring of qualified and experienced personnel, thru strong employee relations, by coaching and mentoring employees, development of employee training plans, and providing HR support to the various departments.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to employees on various HR-related topics and resolve any issues that may arise according to Company Policy, ESA guidelines, and Human Rights.
  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment, including creating, posting, and managing job advertisements, screening and arranging interviews with candidates, and conducting reference checks.
  • Conduct new hire orientations, including onboarding
  • Ensure new hire training is completed based on appropriate job function
  • Conduct/arrange internal training such as WHMIS/GHS, MOL Worker Health & Safety Awareness, etc.
  • Plan, and schedule external training including First Aid, Aerial Work Platform, Forklift, Overhead Crane, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Working at Heights, etc.
  • Assist with Implementation & adherence of COVID-19 safety protocols
  • Ensure timely completion of accident and incident reports, keep records of the same and submit reports to WSIB. Assist with employee return to work.
  • Provides intake and assessment advice to the HR Manager regarding employee issues and their impact on performance. Determines root causes of issues and recommends appropriate plans for resolution.
  • Assist with Succession Planning and Talent Development plans
  • Develop, and revise Job Descriptions as necessary
  • Encourage GEAR activities from staff to meet corporate goals
  • Update employee files in HRIS system for new hires, changes, transfers, wage changes, and terminations.
  • Tracks and files all employee-related documents i.e. Performance Warnings, Reviews, Policy Sign-offs, etc.
  • Provides general Administrative Support such as preparation of general letters i.e. employment verification, transfer/promotion, and leave letters.
  • Assists with the management of the Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Benefits programs.
  • Participate in the execution of annual Employee Survey
  • Preparation of Employee Meeting material
  • Schedule annual Hearing Testing, and ensure hearing conservation methods are followed
  • Responsible for the administration of the employee benefit plan, including fielding employee questions and annual re-enrolment
  • Assist in the administration of staff files and preparation of confidential materials as needed
  • Update all employee information boards (safety, benefits, promotional)
  • Plan & Coordinate employee social activities/events
  • Act as Human Resources Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and ensure JHSC workplace inspections are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance to all Health & Safety rules and housekeeping principals. Ensure substandard conditions and practices identified in monthly plant safety audits are corrected.
  • Works in compliance with IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards, and all legislative requirements of the OHSA
  • Perform other duties as required i.e. special projects, etc


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience, preferably in an automotive, or manufacturing environment
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and methods
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to coach employees at all levels through difficult situations, ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues using judgment consistent with the organization's preferences and priorities
  • Must be able to speak and present effectively before groups of employees
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be comfortable in an office/plant environment
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible
  • Strong computer skills in the area of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with IATF16949/ISO14001 systems an asset
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards
