Location:  Multimatic Technical Centre – Markham, Ontario, Canada

Overview:

Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group.  MTC provides advanced design, simulation, testing and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.

MTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, product testing and validation, composites, fabrication and prototyping).  Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full -vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator.  These services are further enhanced by the capabilities of a fully-equipped motorsports department.

The Analysis Department at MTC is currently seeking a Vehicle Dynamics Engineer.  Note that this position is not remote based; the candidate needs to work on-site at our Markham location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Develop full-vehicle, subsystem, and component models for use in dynamical simulations

  • Perform simulations and analyses in support of vehicle, system, and component-level development initiatives
  • Interface with interdepartmental and interdivisional teams to support model development, simulation, and analysis initiatives
  • Contribute to development of novel techniques in the field of dynamical modelling, vehicle dynamics simulation, and vehicle dynamics assessment practices
  • Review results to ensure that there are no errors
  • Perform manual calculations as required
  • Consider alternative solutions for given tasks or problems
  • Compare modelled and measured behaviors as reference data become available
  • Create and/or review reports, presentations and releases as required
  • Attend meetings, present results, and perform demonstrations as required
  • Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing, are understood and met
  • Review all related supplier/customer/federal specifications/requirements
  • Ensure that minutes are taken at all formal meetings
  • Assign tasks to co-workers as per direction of supervisor
  • Provide training, guidance, and assistance to co-workers as required
  • Assist with student reviews as required
  • Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
  • Keep supervisor informed of all program issues and analysis requests
  • Attend all required training courses
  • Document/present information obtained from conferences and training courses as required
  • Participate in MTC’s continuous improvement activities
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally

Education and Experience:

  • University degree in a relevant engineering discipline (i.e. mechanical, mechatronics, or automotive engineering)
  • Experience level open:  new grads to experienced engineers (1 – 8+ years).  Compensation level based on experience
  • Proficient with appropriate software (preferably Matlab, ADAMS, VI-Grade, MathWorks and Simulink)
  • Good first-principles understanding of multibody dynamics and ground vehicle dynamics
  • Excellent knowledge of kinematic and dynamical system simulation tools
  • Strong mathematics aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be familiar with industry standard Windows applications
  • Must be able to work independently
