Assembly and Prototype Supervisor

Scope of Position:

This growth was achieved as a result of the skill and dedication of the employees.  MAMT is an industry leading engineering development centre that relies on its highly talented staff, following the company’s established systems and best practices, to maintain its position.  It is important, in this dynamic environment, that everyone keep abreast of leading edge technologies and techniques relating generally to MAMT’s core competencies and specifically to the assigned job function.  In order for MAMT to continue to lead the industry, it is critical that a well equipped facility be provided and staffed by the highest qualified personnel available.  Projects must be scheduled to assure on-time delivery while maintaining a reasonable and fair workload for the personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with Design Engineers/Toolmakers to develop (high volume) manufacturable components with an eye for product improvement and potential build issues
  • Schedule and assign resources for projects
  • Hold meetings as necessary with appropriate personnel to give direction on ongoing and upcoming projects
  • Review project direction with Project Leader
  • Provide support to Project Leaders, Toolmakers and Apprentices in all aspects of their job descriptions
  • Communicate project, personnel and other details to Prototype Manager
  • Provide assistance to Prototype Manager to assess performance progress of Apprentices
  • Jointly with Prototype Manager, ensure that all necessary training, guidance and assistance is provided to department personnel
  • Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing, are understood and met
  • Be responsible for all timing, quality and delivery issues of all department projects
  • Assign tasks to co-workers as per direction of supervisor
  • Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
  • Review and prepare job folder for prototype personnel
  • Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean, and organized to enable timely and safe manufacturing techniques
  • Consider alternative solutions for given tasks or problems
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and ensure they are completed on time
  • Follow all documented quality procedures
  • Observe and enforce all company safety rules, polices and procedures
  • Attend all required training courses
  • Document/present information obtained from conferences and training courses as required
  • Participate in MAMT’s continuous improvement activities
  • Foster good employee relations
  • Perform all other duties as determined by the General Manager or his designate

 Basic Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Successful completion of college or apprenticeship or equivalent Tool and Die Maker Certification
  • Excellent knowledge of 3-D wireframe techniques using Key Creator
  • Must have solid background in GD&T
  • Ability to supervise and delegate work for multiple projects
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and schedule multiple component projects
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard Windows applications
  • Successful completion of lift truck safety training
  • Supervisory/disciplinary training
  • Familiar with customer quality requirements
  • First Aid training
  • Must be familiar with MAMT’s Quality System procedures
