Scope of Position:

Increase company profitability by providing manufacturing and support departments with leadership, technical expertise and clear defined goals while ensuring quality, safety, production, environmental and financial requirements are met

 

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Ensure that all personnel are working in a safe and efficient manner
  • Oversee and manage daily manufacturing operations
  • Adopt, support, and encourage KAIZEN principles, concepts and GEAR activities from staff to meet corporate goals
  • Develop budgets, KPI’s and targets for the overall manufacturing operations
  • Problem recognition, prioritizing and promoting solutions/decisions as required
  • Represent the company within and outside premises, showing example by actions
  • Represent the General Manager in his/her absence as required
  • Monitor compliance to meet safety, quality, financial, IATF16949, ISO14001, customer and company’s requirements
  • Final sign - off of assembly lines, check fixtures and tooling
  • Final review for new business quotes/engineering changes
  • Purchase requisitions - approval
  • Specs preliminary approval with the AGM - customer issues (reviewing impact of capital)
  • Train , coach and assist department personnel in the development of continuous improvement
  • Ensure IATF16949 and ISO14000 standards are met
  • Assist in employee performance reviews for department personnel (minimum annually).
  • Submits training needs to HR as determined from departmental needs and employee evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as required (ie-special projects)
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards
  • Will ensure that all individuals within their department work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards
  • Perform Workplace Inspections
  • Participate in health and safety Information sessions
  • Investigate in Incidents, complains and work refusal
  • Provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker to protect the health or safety of the worker
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of your worker
  • Correct health and safety contraventions or hazardous conditions
  • Commend worker and supervisor health and safety performance
  • Appoint competent supervision
  • Establish a budget for Health & Safety and Return to Work activities

 

Basic Requirements :

  • 5 Years of experience in managing medium/high volume production, metal working/fabrication operation (preferred Automotive).
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, supplemented with basic mathematics.
  • Some post-secondary education in related field. ie: industrial relations, work study, quality assurance, automotive systems, industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, manufacturing engineering, costing, costing systems and analysis.
  • Familiar with W.H.I.M.S., IATF16949, accident prevention, work place inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Leadership skills in a multi cultured environment.
  • Familiar with organizing and managing priorities, business equipment and problem solving techniques.
  • Computer literacy and a sound knowledge in MS Office, Excel and Outlook is an asset.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Manufacturing ERP solutions
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset
