Technical Writer/Editor – Automotive Experience
Location: Multimatic Communications, Markham, Ontario, Canada
Position Overview:
Multimatic is a global corporation supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components, as well as the design, engineering and development of lightweight composite automotive systems. Multimatic is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and has operating divisions in North America, Europe and Asia with manufacturing partners in South America and Australia.
Multimatic is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Technical Writer/Editor to take a lead role in crafting impactful marketing and communications messaging for a wide range of applications in the automotive industry including but not limited to:
- Press release and PR announcements
- Social media content
- News material for internal dissemination
- Websites, both internal (Intranet) and external (public-facing)
- Printed material including brochures, HR manuals, technical documentation and advertising
- Video scripts
- PowerPoint presentations
As part a creative marketing/communications team that includes visual designers, web programmers, videographers, digital imaging experts, you will lead the activity to create original material, and edit/maintain existing content that promotes Multimatic in a business-appropriate, professional manner.
You will report to the Director of Communications.
Working out of Multimatic's facility in Markham, Ontario you will interface with engineering/manufacturing personnel from corporate facilities around the world, and be exposed to, and involved in communicating new and innovative automotive component and system development projects, including niche vehicle production. You will also be expected to visit and be involved in work with Multimatic's globally distributed manufacturing divisions.
You will also engage with Multimatic's Director of Human Resources and HR professionals at divisions throughout the company - working to understand and help deliver messaging that meets their communications needs.
Submissions will not be considered without a portfolio that clearly demonstrates videography/graphic design experience and skills. Please include as much automotive-related material as possible.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead and work with other team members to research, write and edit quality, impactful, technically accurate written content for applications as outlined in the position overview, above
- Daily review corporate, industry and motorsports news in order to produce the company’s MultiNEWS news feed. Some content will be provided by other divisions, and team members
Requirements:
- A college or university diploma/degree, or equivalent education/experience with a focus on writing, editing and marketing/communications
- Proven work experience, preferably dealing with the automotive sector
- Ideally, experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Exceptional technical writing and communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of web content editing tools such as WordPress and SharePoint would be an asset
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Ability to maintain information and data in strict confidence
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strict adherence to quality-control processes, ensuring files are proofed to meet all brand and writing standards, and all necessary sign-offs are obtained
- Adherence to established processes and procedures to effectively manage projects
- Travel may be required within Canada, the US, Europe and potentially Asia. A valid passport and willingness to travel is an asset
