Control Electrician/Programmer

Location: Multimatic C-Mech, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada

Multimatic C-Mech is seeking a Control Electrician/Programmer to increase the profitability of the company by providing all departments with a safe and well maintained equipment while ensuring quality and production requirements. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Manager of the facility and will work closely with the Operations team to fulfil the needs of the business.

Scope of Position

This position is responsible for the repairs of equipment and start-up of line programs of the company.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Perform all electrical work including repairs of equipment and machinery as required.
  • Adhere to lock out procedures and safety standards.
  • Keep proper documentation of changes to the programs, review program changes by other personal and to backup machine PLC, HMI, camera, drive and other programs.
  • Assist Process Engineering, IT, and line contractors with integration and PLC code to insure proper installation or modification and start up to Multimatic systems.
  • Backup of assembly line programs, creating and modifying a line programs.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork including work orders/time sheets/log board entries/line book revisions as required in a timely manner. Maintains up to date documentation of all equipment. This includes making sure that any changes to equipment are documented
  • Participate in development and implementation of latest technologies to improve productivity and quality.
  • Make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency and cost reduction. This includes manufacturing, repairs and installations of parts, components, services and equipment.
  • Interface and coordinate with hardware and controls engineers to perform tests on simulation, software, hardware, and systems platforms to validate proper.
  • Travel abroad to machine developers to assist in the validation and sign off of new machinery.
  • Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement suggestions on the production line.
  • Order parts and following the parts received procedure.
  • Assist in breakdowns in a timely manner as required.
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts.
  • Perform other duties as required (ie-special projects).
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 5 years’ experience in PLC programming.
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed electrician.
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems including robotics.
  • Computer literacy and a sound knowledge in MS Office, Excel and Outlook is an asset.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Good communication skills (written and oral).
