Reporting to the Vice President of Operations the Director of Manufacturing is responsible for establishing and monitoring procedures, methods, projects, policies and programs designed to improve manufacturing efficiency and employee working conditions, through robust & efficient manufacturing strategies that drive efficiencies and revenues, while supporting innovation and continuous improvement activity to increase quality performance and reduce costs.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Support VP Operations to establish & implement group strategy- short, mid & long term.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring procedures, methods, policies and programs designed to improve manufacturing efficiency and employee working conditions.
  • Working with Process Engineering teams and divisional senior management to improve and drive Continuous Improvement.
  • Oversee kick off and approval of new/modified equipment for relevant assigned programs.
  • Participate in the specification, sourcing and negotiations of assembly equipment contracts along with Divisional Process Engineering teams for relevant assigned programs.
  • Interface with divisional Process Engineering / AQP / Quality Department and oversees the completion of Equipment Milestone Reviews, Equipment Design Reviews, documentation and review submissions.
  • Involved in PMFEA, Product drawings, Identification of key characteristics, and design review processes as required to ensure adherence to Design for Manufacturability guidelines.
  • Review of internal Process Engineering RFQ’s for OEM Request for Quotation activities.
  • Responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining standard costs for all products through engineering standardization and manufacturing process industrialization.
  • Review and approval of Capital Requests as submitted by divisions for capital expenditure related to assembly / manufacturing processes for new programs and VAVE projects.
  • Responsible for assisting in developing and writing Equipment Specifications related to the manufacturing process.
  • Assist divisions with pre-production planning through capital equipment readiness in support of Flawless Program Launch.
  • Work with Engineering, AQP, Divisions and equipment suppliers on product and process design that maximize manufacturing robustness.
  • Support President’s Message.
  • Adopt, practice, support and encourage KAIZEN and GEAR activities.
  • Follow all group and general procedures where applicable.
  • Conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to travel, when required.


Key Qualifications:

  • Must have Engineering degree, diploma or equivalent experience / background.
  • Minimum 8+ years of auto industry experience with 3+ years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Must be able to read and fully interpret Engineering Drawings and Standards (Applicable GD&T knowledge preferred).
  • Intermediate computer skills in Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Microsoft Project, Internet, Flowcharts, and an understanding of Databases, CAD, software.
  • High level of organizational skills required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to effectively interact with outside customers, suppliers, and all levels of employees internally.
