Multimatic Inc. is a privately held Canadian corporation headquartered in Markham, Ontario, supplying components, systems and services to the global automotive industry.  Multimatic's core competencies lie in the manufacture of stampings, welded assemblies, mechanisms, and suspension components, as well as the design and development of automotive body/chassis systems. 

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Group Director, Human Resources serves as a key strategic business partner for the Group leadership team.  This position will partner with senior operational management to provide direct support to facility Human Resources Managers and other front line managers seeking guidance on a diverse range of topics. This role will help the business group achieve their aggressive business goals by reinforcing Multimatic’s culture and focusing on building a high performance, talent-dense work environment. The Group Director, Human Resources will be viewed as the human resources leader and expert in all functional areas with an emphasis on talent acquisition, leadership development, employee relations, employee engagement, succession planning and health and safety.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Partner with business leaders to forecast talent acquisition needs and develop a robust workforce plan. Develop and implement the Group strategies for sourcing, attracting and retaining a talented and skilled workforce.
  • Lead the Group talent activities with the ultimate outcome of a highly successful succession process through the identification and development of high potential talent.
  • Lead and execute programs through local leadership and the Human Resources Managers that builds and sustains a culture of high employee engagement and sense of belonging.
  • Research and identify strategic opportunities that position the Group’s compensation programs and practices as a competitive advantage. Provide compensation guidance, education and support for senior operational leaders and hiring managers.
  • Lead the implementation of core compensation programs within the Group such as the annual wage and salary reviews and the variable incentive process.
  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of all employee relations programs and policies to ensure that they are market competitive and support the Company’s strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure legislative compliance on all employment related matters within the Group’s operating facilities.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for employee relations and ensure a productive a positive environment. Develop and oversee standardized training on positive employee relations programs and ensure a one company, consistent approach to all program delivery.
  • Partners with senior operational management on the development and implementation of the Group employee communications plans and programs across the operation.
  • Provide group and one-on-one coaching with business leaders to support leadership development, business decision-making and human resource management.
  • Lead and advocate the continuous improvement of the Group’s health and safety culture to reach the vison of zero injuries. Oversee compliance to the relevant safety legal requirements.
  • Develop the Group’s Human Resources budget based on the business plan and the upcoming people initiatives.


Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or Business related degree
  • Currently operating at an HR Director level with responsibilities in talent acquisition, development and succession
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in challenging senior HR positions with deep knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing & implementing best in class health and safety programs
  • Hands-on experience working in a global organization and operating in multiple countries
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Labor laws (knowledge of England and China labor law would help)
  • Experience working across multiple site locations and ability to travel between locations and internationally
  • High energy and self-motivated; confident leading change
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and presentation skills
