Automotive Buyer / Purchaser – Contract Position
Location: Multimatic Niche Vehicles NA, Markham, Ontario, Canada
Position Overview:
Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America (MNVNA) is the world-class facility responsible for production of the Ford GT supercar. MNVNA is seeking a Buyer / Purchaser that has experience in manufacturing, particularly within automotive.
This is a 4 month contract position, possibility of extension.
Automotive Buyer / Purchaser
The responsibilities of the Buyer / Purchaser will involve assisting in the day to day purchasing activities of a variety of electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems for vehicle production. The Buyer / Purchaser will aid in maintaining internal and external supply chain relationships while yielding business improvement for the organization. The successful candidate will be required to work cross-functionally with Engineering SQA and Materials Group to identify cost-saving opportunities. In order to qualify for this opportunity, the candidate must have proven experience with improving supplier productivity in the automotive OEM industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Providing support for price improvements and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Assisting in supply chain mapping methods to identify opportunities for improvement in various commodities
- Maintain supply base while focusing on supplier development; develop and implement supplier score-carding methods
- Maintain focus on cost down opportunities
- Support VAVE activities with both internal and external business clients
- Support activities for improving inventory turns and working capital improvement
- Assist in the analysis of Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis to determine where continuous improvements can be achieved
- Work in conjunction with SQA to approve qualified suppliers
Education & Experience Requirement:
The ideal candidate for this role must have 5-7 years’ experience in purchasing electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems. Experience from the automotive industry is an asset, including a basic knowledge of complete vehicle systems. Experience in supplier negotiations and cost down initiatives is also an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key for this role. Must have the ability to take ownership and support the purchasing process from end to end. This role requires a strategic and an analytical mindset towards purchasing.
