Senior Network Administrator

Position Overview:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

Multimatic's IT group is located in Markham, Ontario, and we are currently seeking a Senior Network Administrator, who will be reporting to the Global Technical Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd / 3rd level network infrastructure support to globally located technical teams
  • Develop, design and implement LAN/WAN solutions at an enterprise level
  • Conduct research and provide solutions to enhance the network infrastructure using merging network products, services and standards
  • Assess network risks and zero downtime contingency planning
  • New network hardware installation / configuration within our global network infrastructure
  • Oversee network carrier relationships including contract renewals
  • Manage network hardware inventory ensuring life cycle refreshes on a global level
  • Design and manage global WIFI network infrastructure including signal surveys
  • Ensure 24/7 network uptime at both WAN and LAN levels
  • Provide root cause analysis for all network events that impact service uptime
  • Perform firmware / OS upgrades on routers, switches, firewalls, access points
  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, ether / fiber SAN switching, etc
  • In-depth packet / protocol level network traffic analysis for troubleshooting of complex system issues and performance optimization

Qualifications:

  • Cisco CCNA certificated
  • 5-10 years' experience with Cisco ASA - Cisco Firepower 6.3 +
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Fortinet products such as Fortigate
    • Security related technologies such as 2-factor authentication, RADIUS, RSA and 802.1x
    • Client VPN implementation such as Cisco AnyConnect
    • Network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds
    • Microsoft technologies and protocols
    • Hewitt Packard networking hardware ie. HP ProCurve switches
    • Cloud Technology
  • Strong Layer 2 and 3 network skills
  • 8-12 years' experience within an IT related environment
  • Excellent English communications skills - both written and verbal
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work alone or within a group
  • Proven customer support skills
  • Must be able to travel globally if and when required
  • Must be able to work after hours and weekends if and when required
  • Must be able to work rotational on-call support
  • Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship
