Junior Financial Accountant
Location: Multimatic Engineering Group Office, Markham, Ontario, Canada
Summary:
The position will be an addition to the Group Finance team, and will provide transactional accounting support to the General Accountant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transactional accounting support - perform general accounting and administrative duties
- Account reconciliations - Analyze accounts and maintain supporting schedules
- Preparing invoices and sales reports - Input customer invoices, process and post cash receipts
- Journal entries and accruals preparation for month end
- Expense reports management & process employee reimbursements
- Receive and route vendor invoices to managers for approval
- Process approved invoices in the Accounts Payable system for timely payment and accurate posting to the General Ledger
- Developing and maintaining timely and accurate financial reports for all projects - preparing and reviewing monthly job costs and budget reporting
- Performing monthly bank account reconciliation
- Preparing annual month-end / year-end financial reports and providing all information for financial statements and tax filings
- Assist month, quarter, and year-end close and consolidation process
- Respond to vendor and management inquiries
- Assisting with special projects as required
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience performing accounts payable processing, account reconciliations, and account analysis using ERP software, preferably SAP
- Demonstrated experience in project accounting
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organized, detail oriented and analytical - self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Solves problems, works independently, possesses good judgment, exercises discretion and confidentiality
- Accounting education (degree or diploma) or equivalent
- Registration in CPA program is an asset
