Summer Student – Process Engineer

Position Overview:

Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America (MNVNA) is the facility, responsible for the production of the Ford GT.

Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America is seeking an enthusiastic summer student with a background in engineering (Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical). This individual will be part of a core team working on the day to day process/project management of the Ford GT supercar. Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, and working within an exciting and dynamic vehicle development and engineering facility, you will create and manage project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for process improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop or improve existing manufacturing processes for assembly of components and vehicles
  • Provide ROI justification for process improvements
  • Specify, identify and procure new manufacturing equipment needed for increased capacity
  • Develop/revise process documentation and work instructions
  • Design tooling for assembly and inspection equipment
  • Support supply chain vendors with technical issues
  • Monitor process yields and cost, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on these metrics
  • Solve of manufacturing problems (related to materials, designs, equipment, people) in a timely manner
  • Support factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
  • Recommend product design improvements required to produce good quality product
  • Document process capabilities and guidelines for product designers

Education and Experience:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in related Engineering field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant processing experience such as:
    • High volume Interior, Chassis, Powertrain Assembly
    • Full Vehicle Assembly at an OEM
  • Experienced Problem Solving Using Process baselining and comparison, Flowcharting Value Stream Mapping, Cause and Effect Analysis, DOEs
  • Statistical Process Control (SPCs)
  • Perform Capability Studies
  • 6 Sigma Concepts for Process Development
  • Control Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications
