SUMMARY

The Quality Manager provides supervision and communication services to Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality Departments to assure that products are manufactured utilizing current procedures to ensure that design intent is met.  An important outcome of this role is to meet goals that achieve the company’s commitment of superior part quality and reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the plant Customer contact/representative. Provide leadership to assure effective communication, coordination, and interaction with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality

  • Evaluate and implement, as required, technology compatible to the company's needs

  • Evaluate control plans from concept phase through final approval, to insure it is with “world class” manufacturing procedures to assure first-time approval with superior part quality

  • Review prints and specifications to insure quality and reliability requirements are addressed. Track engineering changes through the system

  • Create and maintain files of all parts and blue prints, keep records to show that the latest engineering level is used

  • Provide direct communication link with company management and coordinate all departments for quality problem resolutions

  • Review all safety and critical characteristics to insure that proper tests are being performed and results are recorded

  • Ensure all supplier, internal, and external non-conformances are tracked with measurable progress of corrective actions in a timely fashion

  • Provides administrative oversight of Corrective Action (CAR) system

  • Produce, and report, quality metrics and Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) as required by the QMS.

  • Manage plant physical testing laboratory to meet both plant production requirements and compliance to IATF 16949 requirements, including all plant and laboratory inspection and test equipment calibration and measurement system analysis (MSA) requirements.

  • Work with engineering disciplines to develop all stages of process qualifications and validations, product and component test methods, inspection guidelines and quality system procedures by administrating AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, etc)

 

  • Lead and develop a quality staff with skills and abilities to become a true service organization to support plants in training and technical troubleshooting to achieve plant and company goals and objectives.

 

  • Develop and provide training on regulations, and QMS Procedures / Work Instructions to employees and other stakeholders as required.

 

  • May work on special projects/assignments upon request.

 

  • Lead validation process for newly developed and existing products.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Quality Department including Quality Engineers & Quality Technicians.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university in a technical field, or six years manufacturing quality experience

  • Automotive Experience will be given preferential consideration

  • 2 years additional experience in a Quality Supervisor or managerial position for an automotive supplier in the metal processing field is required

    Demonstrated use of Quality Tools including experience in, and application of, Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving, Corrective Action (8D and A3) and Continuous Improvement methodologies along with AIAG Tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, etc.
