Program Manager (Vehicle Development)

Multimatic Technical Centre Europe (MTCE) provides engineering and product development services to race teams and OEM’s around the world. It is Multimatic's Centre of Excellence for the ongoing design, development and implementation of DSSV® Damping Technology, and has established a strong relationship with key international Motorsports organizations. MTCE is also a leading contract engineering and vehicle development resource to major automotive OEMs and a growing number of niche vehicle manufacturers.

MTCE is currently seeking to recruit a Program Manager with a range of skills to join the growing team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To undertake the program management of a stand-alone mid-sized project or a subsidiary element of a main vehicle engineering and development program. General project management responsibility for the planning of the project activities, management of the manpower & facilities resources and achievement of deliverables to quality, timing and cost.

Specific duties required for this project management role are as follows:

Undertake management of the development project element of the main vehicle program. Responsibility for the planning of the DVP&R activities through liaison with specialist functional areas. Execution of the plan through management of the test and development manpower resources, allocation of prototype rigs vehicles, proving grounds and test facilities. To ensure test result outcomes and feedback to enable engineering sign-off of vehicle performance attributes. Ultimate responsibility for achivement of the development program to quality, timing and cost.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead and deliver project plans for new proposals and existing projects through liaison with functional departments leaders
  2. Manpower and facilities planning, ensure resources are available to support project activities, liaise with functional areas to ensure replacements are provided if necessary.
  3. Risk planning and management throughout project
  4. Manage project timing within overall program plan; track progress changes and develop recovery plans when necessary
  5. Control project spend within allocated budget using forecasting tools
  6. Ensure quality of deliverables from functional departments, manage achievement of project deliverables at program milestones, and facilitate customer sign-off at gateway stages
  7. Collate and deliver monthly management status report
  8. External customer liaison and reporting for stand-alone projects
  9. Maintain project file directory database, ensure configuration control for project documents and reports
  10. Support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management systems.
  11. Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  12. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

No direct line departmental supervisory responsibilities, but carries out appropriate leadership / project management of engineers within an engineering program. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and reviewing work amongst the program team.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  1. At least 5 years experience of working within automotive design and development programs
  2. Knowledge and experience of automotive product development process and activities
  3. Good communication and professional presentation skills for customer and supplier interfacing
  4. Leadership, man management and conflict resolution skills
  5. Capable of organising and managing priorities, utilise problem solving techniques
  6. Commercial analysis and budgeting skills, experience of working to customer contract terms
  7. Computer literate, with advanced MS Word, Powerpoint & Excel skills/abilities, MS Project expertise preferred

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum HNCHND third level qualifications.
  2. Preference will be given to candidates with Degree level in Mechanical Auomotive Engineering
