Buyer, Group Advanced Purchasing

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Support the execution of Multimatic Structures and Suspension Group (SSG) Advanced Product Development Team as the primary purchasing leader for emerging technologies. Manage and coordinate all Advanced Purchasing activities between suppliers and the objectives of the Product Development Team and the SSG Group Office. .

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Plan, organize, and manage activities related to the Advance Purchasing function with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while selecting the optimal capable source to support emerging technologies.
  2. Generate, distribute and follow up on all RFQ’s, as per the defined Purchasing Process
  3. Analyze quotes from vendors & costs from potential suppliers and prepare for management review
  4. Prepare all quote and detail data to analyze a make/buy divisional decision
  5. Works cooperatively with the Group Global Purchasing Manager in the development of a strategic supply chain
  6. Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology
  7. Supports quote process to customer and works strategically at the early stage of Program/Product development.
  8. Responsible to process design change requests and be a part of the change management team until PPAP
  9. Report the supplier launch readiness to program management on a regular base
  10. Participate in simultaneous engineering meeting and forward status and open issues to purchasing team
  11. Organize Commercial and Technical workshops with suppliers in co-operation with engineering, divisional purchasing and SQD
  12. Analyze cost drivers and track the cost model for Purchased components and Materials as applicable
  13. With a focus on best value, evaluate and negotiate favourable purchasing terms to reduce risk to Multimatic and improve the competitive advantage.
  14. Flawless hand over of new programs to divisional purchasing while working together with suppliers
  15. Foster strategic supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continuing to seek new sourcing opportunities, with current and / or new suppliers.
  16. Insure suppliers respond appropriately to the program management requirements including issues of delivery, cost or quality up to PPAP.
  17. Consult with the Global Group Purchasing Manager to to develop nomination letters and long term agreements that contribute to the objectives of the Group Office.
  18. Oversees all activities related to the Advance Purchasing process as applicable to any specific program
  19. Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting
  20. Communicate the necessary information to the Group Office to assist in decision making and strategy formulation
  21. Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. University Bachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline preferred or equivalent.
  2. Several years of previous experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility. Relevant experience within the automotive industry preferred.
  3. Significant senior level global experience in automotive engineering, including various levels of exposure and strategic experience with: product design, product development, and product validation. (Suspension products and systems experience preferred.)
  4. Significant senior level global experience in automotive engineering, including various levels of exposure and strategic interface with: strategic planning, business development, sales and marketing, finance, operations, program and project management.
  5. Strong knowledge and exposure with manufacturing processes and production issues.
  6. Experience in sheet metal forming and machining processes are preferred.
  7. Extensive background with collaborative global engineering teams, with foreign assignments strongly preferred.
  8. Significant experience and exposure to product development business case analysis, commercial issues, profit and loss analysis, financial reporting.
