SUMMARY

This role leads, plans, and implements manufacturing and product engineering methods to enable equipment and process optimization for our BUTLER, INDIANA manufacturing plant. This position ensures effectiveness in safety, product quality, cost containment, and production operating standards in an automotive environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES       

  • Leads the project management process inclusive of equipment planning, design, development and testing, and rate verification to support release of new products and product enhancements. Communicates feedback/results to appropriate stakeholders within the organization at appropriate project milestones.
  • Maintains regular daily presence on the production floor and provides engineering resources to assembly in areas of safety, ergonomic evaluations, methods improvement, procurement and fabrication. Develops, document, and implement manufacturing methods needed to enhance existing products
  • Review engineering changes and take appropriate measures to ensure all product documentation for the affected operations are updated to support the change prior to release to production.
  • Develop and implement changes in operational workflow as needed to improve and accelerate the flow of product through the facility.
  • Prepare annual engineering and capital improvements budget to meet operating plan and program launch requirements.
  • Guides department resources through engineering change processes using applications of Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), operator instruction reviews, process capability and reliability studies, and other engineering tasks compliant with IATF standards.
  • Leads plant operations team of manufacturing and controls engineers. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering(preferably mechanical engineering) or related field. Advanced degree preferable.
  • Six(6) to Nine(9) years experience in related engineering discipline, project management, or direct customer support experience.  
  • Extensive automotive industrial experience(OEM or Aftermarket) is required.
  • Technical proficiency with automated high-volume welding, stamping, and roll forming processes.
  • Broad experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement project implementation.
  • Demonstrated competencies in leading a team of manufacturing and controls engineers
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software – Solidworks preferred
