Multimatic Structures & Suspension has recently expanded its manufacturing presence in Fort Wayne, IN. We are searching for experienced and dynamic Materials Planner who desires to join an energetic and dedicated team that has launched a new facility with all new equipment and a new product line.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring coordination and release of components required to meet production schedules and customer requirements; while developing procedures and systems to optimize, ensure availability, and achieve appropriate inventory levels. Also responsible for tracking all containers, packaging needs and freight optimization. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Material planning activities required to support production demand and satisfy customer requirements
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and integrity in accordance with department goals and objectives
  • Provide customer support both internally and externally
  • Using MRP, create material releases and daily delivery schedules to meet production requirements
  • Ensures material availability for customer releases/call offs
  • Ensures error-free MRP (Material Requirement Plan) and implements corrective action plans
  • Coordinate K2 activities including engineering changes, SOP and EOP
  • Perform cycle counts for inventory accuracy, reconcile results, and ensure preventative stop-gap actions are in place
  • Routinely conducts inventory spot checks – walking the plant floor
  • Ensures all necessary data entry into SAP
  • Receiving Discrepancy Reports (RDRs) validation and supplier correction monitoring
  • Coordinates K2 activities including engineering changes, SOP and EOP
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities to ensure we pay our suppliers timely
  • Building supplier relationships by providing constant communication, delivery-tracking performance, guidance regarding goals and direction as needed
  • Understanding / execution of external customer systems/portals (DDL, SMART, Supply Solutions, GM Supply Power, etc.) and ensure Multimatic New haven management has visibility of customer ratings
  • Meets all Quality Management Systems (QMS) standards
  • Support and drive continuous improvement activities to positively affect the profitability of the Company
  • Must manage inventory, which could exceed up to 25% of total sales, to optimize usage and ensure proper release levels of parts are introduced to production as required and does not result in production related scrap
  • Analyze cost effective measures to ensure expedited parts are delivered on time and does not impact production negatively, such as production related overtime
  • Manage related freight related operations which could be valued at 1.5% of sales or higher
  • Adhere to safety and housekeeping principles

RELATIONSHIPSQUALIFICATIONS

  • Reports directly to the Materials Manager
  • Interfaces on a frequent basis with Production, Operations, IT and Quality. Also interfaces on an as needed basis with HR, Finance, Engineering and Maintenance

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in materials working in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of SAP, MRP and Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Good computer skills. Ability to use Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to assume responsibility and corresponding authority and accountability.
