SUMMARY

Testing of production / pre-production parts to measure conformance to Multimatic and customer specifications regarding MIG and resistance welds. Must be self-directed and work well with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Destructive Cut & Etch testing on production MIG welds.
  • Perform Rockwell hardness testing as required. (infrequent)
  • Perform destructive testing on Resistance Spot welds and Resistance Projection nuts/studs.
  • Perform Quality Engineer driven testing as required. (IE measure depth of scratch in a bar)
  • Manage Discrepant Weld Reports including emailing and the generation/data entry/ and saving of reports in Excel.
  • Document testing procedures and results
  • File and maintain in-process inspection reports.
  • Assist the Quality Manager and Metallurgist as assigned.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional and technical manner that positively impacts the Quality Department and MNH as a whole

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
  • Welding & Plasma Cutting (desired)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A High School diploma or GED.  Minimum two (2) years general or specific experience in this field. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents and statutes from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure and policy manuals, contracts and agreements. 

Ability to write instructions, procedures, policies, reports and various correspondences. 

Ability to speak and present effectively in one-on-one, and in small and large group settings, as well as before customers, government and regulatory agencies.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis for variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.   

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding and create instructions, reports and analysis from data or statues furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Interpret and apply laws and regulations to situations. 

Superior interpersonal abilities.  Ability to communicate with diverse personalities is tactful, mature and flexible.  Good reasoning abilities, sound judgment, resourceful and well organized.  The ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while supporting personnel and the organizations preferences and priorities. Ability to compromise with coworkers regarding disagreements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near machinery and moving parts.  The employee may be exposed to the risk of electromagnetic fields, risk of electric shock and vibration.  The employee will be required to travel and stay overnight on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but will be loud when in the production environment.
