Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America (MNVNA) is part of the Multimatic Engineering Group, and is the world-class facility responsible for production of the Ford GT supercar.
Buyer/Purchaser - Automotive to manage day-to-day purchasing activities and utilize buying power to maintain quality at the most optimized cost. The responsibilities of the Buyer will involve purchasing of a variety of electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems for production. The Buyer will be responsible to maintain internal and external supply chain relationships. Negotiate, source locally/globally, plan and forecast inventory levels. The successful candidate will be required to manage purchase orders, requisitions and work cross-functionally with Engineering SQA and Materials Group business activities to identify cost-saving opportunities. In order to qualify for this opportunity, the candidate must have proven experience in the automotive OEM industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Forecasting and purchasing of finished automotive components and systems through EDI
Build and maintain supply base while focusing on supplier development
Review supplier EOQ while meeting and exceeding inventory and freight targets
Continuous focus on cost down opportunities
Root cause analysis and make recommendation for changes to eliminate error causes e.g. BOM, reporting issues, shortage of material etc.
Recommendations for improving supply chain e.g. fix lead time and recalculate levels etc.
Develop suggestions and provide recommendations for improving total inventory turnover
Development and analysis of Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis to determine where continuous improvements can be achieved
Work in conjunction with SQA to approve qualified suppliers
Work in conjunction with Materials group to ensure proper stocking level requirements
Education & Experience Requirement:
The ideal candidate for this role must have 3-5 years’ experience in purchasing electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems. Experience from the automotive industry is mandatory, including a basic knowledge of complete vehicle systems. Must have experience in managing forecasts, material planning, purchase orders, cost down initiatives and strong attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key for this role. Must have the ability to take ownership and manage the purchasing process from end to end. This role requires a strategic and an analytical mindset towards purchasing.
