Multimatic Tennessee (MMTN) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry. MMTN is looking for a Assistant Quality Manager who will help maintain Multimatic's focus on Quality. 

SUMMARY

The Assistant Quality Manager will be responsible for the supervision and quality engineering support to meet customer requirements.  Provide communication services to Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to assure that products are manufactured utilizing current procedures and that design intent is met.  Meet goals to achieve the company’s commitment of superior part quality and reliability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the Plant Customer contact/representative, is the alternate QMR for the facility.
  • Provide leadership to assure effective communication, coordination and interaction with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality.
  • Evaluate control plans from concept phase through final approval, to insure it is with ‘world class’ manufacturing procedures to assure first time approval with superior part quality. Develop and Lead PPAP activities.
  • Organize and direct interaction of all affected company areas, to provide ongoing communication within the company to assure timely involvement, review and action to address all problems.
  • Review prints and specification to insure quality and reliability requirements are addressed. Track engineering changes through the system.
  • Provide Quality personnel with assistance and training to insure acceptable quality performance.
  • Provide assistance as needed in performing capability studies and process potential studies.
  • Provide direct communication link with company management and coordinate all departments for quality problem resolutions.
  • Review all safety and critical characteristics to insure that proper tests are being performed and results are recorded.
  • Evaluate and develop, as required, quality requirements and maintain world class technological advancements compatible to company needs.
  • Participate in advance product feasibility assessment with affected company quality areas to assure maximum contribution of research, development, design, engineering and testing to achieve first time through capabilities with superior quality.
  • Organize and direct interaction of all customer complaints to provide ongoing communication with timely involvement, review and action to address these issues.
  • Review prints and specifications to ensure quality reliability requirements are addressed. Track engineering changes and completion through the system.
  • Participate in all customer quality audits.
  • Lead Prototype efforts in area to assure customer requirements are met.
  • Maintain quality hold, disposition material.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

            Directly supervises employees in the Quality Department including Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraisal performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent and Bachelor Degree from a four year college or university in a technical field, or six years manufacturing quality experience.  With 2 years additional experience in a Quality Supervisor or managerial position of an automotive supplier in the metal processing field is required  Qualification to include technical, analytical and judgmental knowledge of current quality control methods employed by engineering and manufacturing.  Strong background in Quality Engineering and APQP functions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents and statutes from jurisdictional agencies and governmental units, procedure and policy manuals, contracts and agreements. 

Ability to write instructions, procedures, policies, reports and various correspondences. 

Ability to speak and present effectively in one-on-one, and in small and large group settings, as well as before customers, government and regulatory agencies

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis for variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.   

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding and create instructions, reports and analysis from data or statues furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Interpret and apply laws and regulations to situations.  Ability to negotiate with associates and business entities.

Superior interpersonal abilities.  Ability to communicate with diverse personalities is tactful, mature and flexible.  Good reasoning abilities, sound judgment, resourceful and well organized.  The ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while supporting personnel and the organizations preferences and priorities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near machinery and moving parts.  The employee may be exposed to the risk of electromagnetic fields, risk of electric shock and vibration.  The employee will be required to travel and stay overnight on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but will be loud when in the production environment.
