Composite Technician - Painter

Position Overview:

Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group. MTC provides advanced design, simulation, and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.

MTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, product testing and validation, composites, fabrication and prototyping). Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full-vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator. These services are further enhanced by the capabilities of a fully equipped motorsports department.

Multimatic Technical Centre is looking for Composite Technicians - Painters that will be responsible for the application of protective and cosmetic coatings to composite components manufactured by Multimatic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply coatings to composite components using various spray methods
  • Buff and polish components utilizing various buffing techniques
  • Use body repair materials and methods for composite components
  • Prepare components for coatings using various preparation methods
  • Maintain paint spray tools including spray facility
  • Mix and blend coatings utilizing computerized mix station
  • Follow all established safety procedures
  • Mask appropriate areas as required
  • Inspect components during processing stages
  • Follow build manuals and quality control processes
  • Consult and resolve quality issues as they arise

Training will be provided as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in auto body repair and refinishing
  • Ability to interpret basic instruction via detailed drawings / instructions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work if required
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office an asset
  • Basic understanding of composite component construction an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing environments an asset
