Position Overview:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions (MDS) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry, manufacturing front and rear lower control arms, links, stabilizer bars and various welded assemblies in a modern 240,000 square foot facility.

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions is looking for a Junior Buyer who will be responsible for carrying out various entry-level tasks related to the purchasing of goods, services, and supplies, as well are participating in negotiations and agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contact suppliers and evaluate the bids offered by suppliers.
  • Aid with various purchasing procedures to support the budget.
  • Evaluate cost saving opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of cost saving initiatives and opportunities.
  • Monitor and record supplier performance against agreed upon price, delivery, and quality standards and industry pricing to maintain the best possible overall profitability for the company.
  • Assist in the issuing of purchase orders as required, subject to the authorization of the Purchasing Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
  • Advise other departments on pricing or price changes, product delivery, new or improved materials or methods that may improve or be incorporated into company products, material restrictions and correct Purchasing or Materials Control Procedures
  • Review all purchasing transactions to ensure compliance of the company and government regulations as well as good moral values and business ethics.

Education and Experience:

  • A college diploma in the area of purchasing or materials management.
  • Actively working towards a Purchasing designation (CPP or equivalent).
  • 1-2 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and MRP concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to enable amicable vendor and interdepartmental relationships within the purchasing department.
  • Excellent communication skills in regards to written reports, and telephone manners.
  • Strong problems solving techniques and abilities.
