Multimatic Inmet manufactures fully engineered, high-quality components, assemblies and systems such as bumpers and chassis/body structural components for high-volume as well as niche vehicle manufacturers.

Position Overview

Multimatic Inmet is currently looking for a Quality Engineer who will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for providing technical, supervision and consultation services to the design, engineering, manufacturing and quality departments. The successful candidate will need to ensure that products can be manufactured utilizing current and new techniques developed by the company, and ensure first-time capabilities and design intent are met.  The requirement is an important part of the company’s commitment to supply superior part quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Problem solve (work with operations on shift to determine root cause of material on hold and make the appropriate changes to limit the amount of material placed on hold)
  • Coordinate a multi-discipline team in the preparation of Control Plans for Prototype, Pre-production and Production status for new programs following AIAG/TS16949 and customer-specific requirements
  • Participate in the multi-discipline team that develops PPAP
  • Coordinate, with the participation of purchasing and SQA, the sourcing and build of component and or assembly/subassembly checking fixtures
  • Participate with Engineering and customer in the determination of key characteristics and measurement locators
  • Participate with Program Teams in design reviews and development of internal specification (GD&T)
  • Coordinate with Program Teams in the selection of measurement points for SPC in all stages of the production process
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis process and implementation of corrective actions
  • Participate in problem solving teams for programs assigned
  • Review part drawings & specifications of programs assigned
  • Assist in implementing new engineering changes for programs assigned
  • Advise management of all potential problems or concerns and offer any opportunities for improvement
  • Assist with developing optimum processing parameters for new and ongoing programs as assigned
  • Work with customers, production, and the Quality Manager to resolve customer issues
  • Develop Continuous Improvement programs/plans related to assigned programs
  • Work in compliance with TS16949 and ISO14001 standards
  • Participate in TS16949 internal audits
  • Work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA and be accountable for specific Health & Safety responsibilities

 Basic Requirements

  • Completion of a Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a manufacturing Quality environment within the automotive industry
  • Solid understanding of welding and stamping processes
  • Experience launching new programs for large OEMs
  • Good understanding of the principles and concepts of Statistical Process Control
  • Excellent problem solving techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of assembly department and press department equipment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization, customers, suppliers, subcontractors and engineers
  • Aluminum experience would be an asset
  • Computer skills in the area of  MS Office/CAD software and other relevant databases
