Process Technician

Position Overview:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions (MDS) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry, manufacturing front and rear lower control arms, links, stabilizer bars and various welded assemblies in a modern 240,000 square foot facility.

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions is looking for a Process Technician that will report to the E-Coat Manager and be responsible to deliver a reliable and consistent flow of quality painted parts through the control of a stable e-coat process and the operation and maintenance of its ancillary equipment. The requirement is an important part of the company’s commitment to supply superior part quality and reliability. Candidates must be willing to work swing shift.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, start-up, monitor, control and shutdown the e-coat, waste water and conveyor systems.
  • Conduct analytical and instrumentation analyses on all process tanks chemicals
  • Monitor all process equipment functions
  • Monitor, keep operational and maintain records of process equipment parameters eg. Ultra filtration system, paint chiller, R.O. water generating plant, chemical metering pumps, acolyte system, hot water generating unit, coalescing filters and filter presses.
  • Perform routine maintenance on above equipment, e.g. changing & purging filter systems, removal of waste sludge, etc.
  • Collect process and production data, generate reports and participate in projects.
  • Process equipment maintenance
  • Housekeeping
  • Participate in bi-annual e-coat line maintenance prom
  • All other activities, incidental to, or directly related to the position

Education and Experience:

  • A College or university Graduate in chemistry or chemical engineering technology
  • 5 years work experience in a process related environment such as Electro coating, Plating ; preferably chemical
  • Have knowledge of e-coat materials, process and process equipment
  • A working knowledge of S.P.C., Gage R&R, Calibrations and Q.O.S. is a definite asset
  • Ability to make positive recommendations affecting process operations
  • Capable of fluent communication in English, verbally and in writing
