Position Overview:

We are hiring a General Machinist who will be responsible for setting up and operating Machine Shop equipment. The candidate must have a good work ethic and a positive attitude, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
  • Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing part quality and delivery are understood and met
  • Be responsible for all parameters of assigned tasks
  • Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean, and organized to enable timely and safe manufacturing techniques
  • Communicate project and other details to the supervisor
  • Follow all documented quality procedures
  • Observe all company safety rules, polices and procedures

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • 3+ years of  machine shop experience 
  • Knowledge of translation techniques of all CAD data to Cadkey
  • Must have solid background in GD&T
