General Machinist

Position Overview:
We are hiring a General Machinist who will be responsible for setting up and operating Machine Shop equipment. The candidate must have a good work ethic and a positive attitude, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing part quality and delivery are understood and met
- Be responsible for all parameters of assigned tasks
- Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean, and organized to enable timely and safe manufacturing techniques
- Communicate project and other details to the supervisor
- Follow all documented quality procedures
- Observe all company safety rules, polices and procedures
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 3+ years of machine shop experience
- Knowledge of translation techniques of all CAD data to Cadkey
- Must have solid background in GD&T
