Composites Supervisor- Afternoon Shift

  • Scope of Position:

The supervisor will be involved in overseeing repair, fabrication, modification, removal, and installation of composite items, parts, assemblies, and structures.

Key Responsibilities 

  • foster good employee relations
  • keep manager informed of all program issues
  • interact with different team members to develop (high volume) manufacturable components with an eye for product improvement and potential build issues
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and manufacturers’ instructions with specifications, ply orientation, termination, and stacking sequence of laminates
  • Ensure that the customer’s requirements, which include project timing, part quality and delivery are understood and met
  • Achieve production schedule
  • schedule and assign resources for projects
  • Laminating and vacuum bagging of composite materials as per the instructions
  • Curing of thermoset resin systems using autoclave/oven
  • Assembling, mating/fitting, skins/component/assemblies, substructures, and/or honeycomb cores
  • Making master molds/patterns and performing cutting and finishing operations
  • Structural bonding of metallic and composite materials
  • Consider alternative solutions for given tasks or problems
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Be responsible for all parameters of assigned tasks
  • Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean and organized
  • Provide training, guidance and assistance to co-workers as required
  • Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and ensure they are completed on time
  • Follow all documented quality ISO 9001 procedures
  • Observe all company safety rules, policies and procedures
  • Attend all required training courses
  • Participate in MAMT’s continuous improvement activities
  • Foster good employee relations

Key Relationships

  • Composites Manager - communicates all project and personnel issues                                 
  • Program Manager - provides project drawings and materials & relay information concerning project timing, quality and design   concerns
  • Quality Assurance Technician- reviews critical characteristics & verifies quality of product

Basic Requirements:

  • Plan and accomplish the repair/manufacture of laminated items with complicated and varied shapes
  • ability to supervise and delegate work
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • ability to plan, organize, and schedule multiple component projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard Windows applications
  • 1-3 years of lead experience
  • 5-10 years of Composite technician experience

  • Production of product which conforms to required specifications
  • Completion of tasks within allocated time
  • Compliance with company safety rules, policies, and procedures
