 Multimatic is an automotive engineering company.  We design and manufacture dampers for race and road cars, build low volume cars and chassis’s, provide ride and handling tuning programs, and manufacture mechatronic systems such as adjustable ride height systems and deployable wing mechanisms. 

Location: Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations, 20 Fison Way Thetford, IP24 1HB.

Please note travel to other Multimatic sites in Huntingdon and Brackley will be required as part of this role.

Health & Safety Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

To co-ordinate, support and advise the Business on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety within the business are adhered to. This role is offered on a full or part time basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
  • Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins
  • Ensure equipment is installed safely
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualification in occupational health and safety, such as a masters, NVQ, BSC or NEBOSH national diploma is essential.
  • COSHH Trained
  • Provision of advice to managers/supervisors
  • Handling of H&S investigation
  • Experience of formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures
  • Experience of ISO and TISAX certification requirements would be advantageous
