Machinist

Working in a specialty racing shop, race car construction environment in support of the production of new cars as well as supporting the racing team. This work demands precision, and it also demands flexibility, and creativity sometimes under critical time deadlines. It occasionally requires long hours and some work on the weekends depending on the situation. 

Ability to setup, and operate a HAAS TM-3, 3-axis CNC mill. experience with HAAS Controls and Operation, including G-code for manual input of basic mill operations, ie hole patterns, facing, etc. at the controls. Experience with setup, and creativity in setting up unusual parts. Much of what we do is one-off, the creation of a new part, or modification of an existing part.  Experience with soft jaws, and other work-holding methods. (Mitee-Bite clamps, vacuum table, etc.).

Experience with ProtoTrak or similar CNC lathes.  Able to input/create a program from 2D drawing at the console, and execute the program, including all tooling setup and selection, feeds and speeds, and all aspects of making the part. Materials are mild steel, 4130 N, 4140 HT, ETD 150, 304 SS, and 6061 and 7075 aluminum

Experience with manual milling on Bridgeport-style mills.  including all aspects of machining with a manual mill including mill setup, tramming, zeroing vice and workpiece, drilling facing, boring, squaring a piece of stock, mill setups, and working with unusual parts. Must be able to set up and use an indexer and rotary table.

Experience with machining on a manual lathe. Must possess the skills to perform all common manual lathe operations, including drilling, tapping turning, facing, threading, and be able to select cutters and speeds, and feeds.

Work with manager to build up shop, acquire equipment as needed, keep track of stock/inventory of all tooling, and keep tooling organized and in good working condition

Good general mechanical and fabrication skills would be a plus,
