Position Overview:

Multimatic Manufacturing is the original production facility of Multimatic Inc. and is a leading supplier of hinges, door checks and innovative user-convenience products (such as Multimatic’s StepGate™ or BoxSideStep™) to the North American automotive industry. Multimatic Mfg. uses flexible production systems that allow rapid product changeovers, helping drive manufacturing efficiency.

Multimatic Mfg. is looking for Tool and Die Makers (afternoon shift) who can help maintain and repair the numerous tools and dies used within the division. The successful candidates will be part of a team responsible for providing the production department with safe, well maintained tools and dies, while ensuring quality and the ability to meet production requirements in a timely manner. Experience troubleshooting in a press shop environment would be an asset.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Performs tool and die maintenance work including repairs as required
  • Responsible for completion of necessary paperwork including work orders/time sheets/log board entries/line book revisions as required in a timely manner
  • Assisting in the implementation of continuous improvement suggestions on the production line
  • Ordering parts and following the parts received procedure
  • Performing routing preventive maintenance as required
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean tidy and organized work area
  • Responsible for Maintenance tooling drawing revision, and tooling part numbers Maintains up to date documentation of all equipment. This includes making sure that any changes to equipment are documented.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of OHSA and the regulations
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Multimatic requires to be used or worn
  • Report to manager or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may endanger yourself or another worker
  • Report to manager  or supervisor any contravention of OHSA or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which you know
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by Multimatic, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger yourself or any other worker
  • Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts
  • Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities
  • Perform other duties as required (example -special projects).
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.

Basic Requirements and Competencies:

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience as a licensed Tool and Die Maker or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in Blue print Reading, tool welding and machining
  • CNC Programming
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
