Forklift Operator (Material Handler)

The Position

We are looking for a Forklift Operator (Material Handler) and the successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for moving products and materials in our facility. Through safe and effective operation of a lift truck, the candidate will help ensure we are able meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document daily inspections of lift trucks
  • Ensure lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met
  • Safely operate a lift truck to:
    • Ensure lines have sufficient components, stampings, and containers
    • Arrange the storage/transportation of stampings to and from assembly lines in organized manner
    • Ensure finished goods are verified by inspectors and approved before strapping and or putting into storage
    • Organize and return bins/ containers
  • Scan paperwork and move stampings and components to and from assembly lines
  • Use scanners to ensure lot traceability of components and stampings
  • Maintain a clean and tidy/organized work area
  • Adopt Kaizen principles and concepts and participate in GEAR activities
  • Maintain contact with supervisor(s) and work to resolve issues as they arise
  • Follow all regulations, company policies and procedures, and applicable standards
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Valid forklift certification and proven experience operating a counter-balance lift truck
  • Two years of experience is preferred
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with bar code scanning and printing labels
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Physical requirements include:
    • Sitting and driving for longs periods of time
    • Frequently climbing up and down steps of the lift truck
    • Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
