Position Overview:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions (MDS) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry, manufacturing front and rear lower control arms, links, stabilizer bars and various welded assemblies in a modern 240,000 square foot facility.

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions is looking for a Senior Buyer who will be responsible for purchasing materials to support company needs in accordance with company policies, customer specifications, provincial and federal laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and negotiate price and delivery for assigned DS parts, projects, supplies, or services. Issue purchase orders, releases, or contracts for them subject to the authorization of the General Manager as required.
  • Collaborate with fellow buyers and management to continually develop the supplier base using methodology such as direct negotiations, VA/VE, and long-term agreements.
  • Develop new suppliers both domestic and international that will add value to the organization.
  • Gather, analyse, and effectively present supplier data.  Data entry and report generation for APQP purposes (i.e., supplier and department purchase orders, engineering changes, FSS cost tracking, quoting).
  • Check all supplier websites or hold communications with suppliers on a regular basis relative to APQP. Ensure that new information posted by the supplier is downloaded and reviewed by the APQP Department (i.e., prototype and/or sample deliveries, program timing and deliverables, capacity studies, IMDS).
  • Communicate with suppliers & internal customers to resolve any issues.
  • Inform the APQP Manager and other appropriate personnel of any new or pertinent supplier requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a college diploma or a university degree.
  • A professional designation in either materials or purchasing (i.e., CPIM, CSCMP, CSCP, Plog). Additional experience may be substituted for some of the above.
  • Experienced in multiple commodities internationally and has general understanding of manufacturing processes within the various commodities.
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Purchasing and MRP systems.
  • Some experience of Quality Systems would be an advantage.
  • An awareness of current suppliers and supply chain industry trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills, negotiation skills, problem-solving techniques, and methods.
  • Participate and lead in cross functional discussions from the Purchasing perspective.
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks at once identifying the priorities.
